NEEDLE DESIGNATION
Needles are coded using the universally applied international
gauge system, which may be explained by the following example:
15x18x32x3,5 RB28, F
15 Gauge
18 Gauge
32 Gauge
3.5 Inches
RB (Regular Barb)
28 Millimetres
F
= 1.83 mm [shank diameter]
= 1.20 mm [intermediate blade diameter]
= 0.70 mm [triangle blade]
= 88.9 mm [total needle length]
= 6.3 mm [distance between barbs]
= working blade length
= code for fibre-protecting barbs
If a needle does not have an intermediate blade diameter,
then it could be for example coded as follows:
15x25x3CB22
15 Gauge
25 Gauge
3 Inches
CB (Close Barb)
22 Millimetres
= 1.83 mm [shank diameter]
= 0.90 mm [triangle blade]
= 76.2 mm [total needle length]
= 3.3 mm [distance between barbs]
= working blade length
